Our ECOpanel coatings obtain EPD certification
__
The Environmental Product Declaration guarantees transparency, sustainability and a lower environmental impact at each stage of the ECOpanel life cycle.
At Aistec we are committed to sustainability, which is why we decided to opt for a material that, in addition to fulfilling the function of acoustic absorption, was made of sustainable material. Our ECOpanel coatings are made 75% from recycled PET plastic bottles. Specifically, in the last three years we have recycled more than 5 million bottles, helping to reduce plastic waste in the oceans and on the planet. But at Aistec we go further, which is why we have worked to obtain the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification for ECOpanel.
EPD certification is increasingly relevant in the construction industry both due to legal requirements of the Public Administration and environmental requirements of private companies, since the commitment to sustainable materials that protect the planet is increasingly in demand.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that reports the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle based on comparable data and transparent information and through which the environmental excellence of an article is accredited based on European standards and in accordance with the ISO 14025 standard issued by AENOR in Spain.
All the stages that ECOpanel goes through throughout the entire life cycle from manufacturing to disposal are analyzed. These are:
-
- Raw materials phase: the obtaining and transportation of the raw materials necessary for the manufacture of ECOpanel is analyzed.
-
- Production phase: the manufacturing process and its packaging are studied.
-
- Distribution phase: the transportation and distribution of the product to the customer is analyzed.
-
- Use phase: time during which the product can be used.
- Recovery phase: end of product life through recycling, recovery or landfilling.
This entire analysis of the product life cycle allows us to evaluate its influence on the environment and identify the stages in which changes can be introduced to minimize the impact considered negative.
For the construction and energy sectors, this certification is one of the most relevant, since using materials with EPD certificates serves as a route for those buildings that want to obtain an environmental certificate such as BREEAM or LEED or also as a requirement for the export of products. One of the main functions of the EPD certification is to help make purchasing decisions that are conscious of ecology and sustainability.

Discover all the details about our EPD
and how it contributes to a more sustainable future
EPD certificates can be granted to any category of product, including the food sector, such as the construction sector or industrial products, as well as services such as energy or transportation. Fortunately, increasingly, companies have greater ecological awareness and this is why they make decisions based on the sustainability of the product and the carbon footprint in the construction industry and it is a trend in this sector, both in our country and in Europe, to act based on whether they have this certificate or not. At Aistec, we have been engineers since 1998 and we advocate for both the well-being of people and the planet.
